Nomura’s 73rd AI expert call concludes that 1.6T optical DSPs will remain in short supply through 2027E, with demand of 60-70mn units against supply of only 40-50mn units. The expert, drawn from an AI infrastructure service provider, estimates 2026E 800G DSP shipments at close to 50mn units and 1.6T DSP shipments at just 16-17mn units against demand above 20mn units, constrained by insufficient 3nm capacity. Nomura rates neither the DSP suppliers nor Google (GOOG), whose TPU and OCS network uses a custom 2.4T coherent-lite transceiver.
