Telecom, Solar, And Energy Groups Lead Wall Street Sector Rotation

The US Stock Market on September 8, 2026, is witnessing a decisive rotation into connectivity and infrastructure. Leading the charge is the Telecom-Equip group (YTD +113%), with strong momentum from Arista Networks (ANET) and Ciena (CIEN), both benefiting from AI data-center buildouts. Internet-Netwksol (YTD +37%) continues its run, with names like Palo Alto Networks (PANW) and Juniper Networks (JNPR) showing institutional accumulation. The Telecm-Intrastrc group (YTD +59%) is powered by fiber-optic leaders such as Corning (GLW), while Elec-Miscprods (YTD +51%) is driven by high-voltage component makers like Vertiv (VRT), which is capitalizing on power-hungry AI infrastructure. Energy-Solar is bouncing off lows (Day +4.0), with Enphase Energy (ENPH) and First Solar (FSLR) attempting early-stage turnarounds, though their YTD remains negative.

On the downside, the entire banking complex is red, from Banks-Monycntr (Comp 93) to Banks-Regional (Comp 89). This broad weakness in financials—despite high Composite Ratings—signals profit-taking after a strong run, not fundamental deterioration. The rotation out of Banks-Foreign and Super Regionals suggests capital is moving from rate-sensitive lenders into high-growth tech hardware. Retail-Homfurn (YTD +34%) and Retail-General are also lagging, indicating consumer discretionary spending is cooling. This is a classic CAN SLIM signal: sell weakness in laggards to fund leaders in the telecom and electrical equipment space.

CAN SLIM takeaway: Focus on the top-rated leaders in Telecom-Equip and Elec-Miscprods. Look for breakouts in ANET, CIEN, and VRT, which show strong relative strength (RS) lines. Avoid catching falling knives in banks or retail. The market’s pulse is on network infrastructure and electrification—stick with the groups showing triple-digit YTD gains and rising daily volume.
